Today @ Speakers Corner
Today at Speakers Corner a heavy drizzle may have kept some people at home but there was more than enough people gathered to argue, chat, argue, debate, argue, preach & did I mention argue?
An OK day the highlight being a conversation with a young Moslem called Cahil, he came confident and ready to put Chris and myself in our placer, but soon he was leaning on the Moslem default saying, “I can’t answer that, I am no scholar.” Oft repeated words in the park when the ‘dawah’ script breaks down. Our prayer is that something from the chatting will stick and cause him to reflect on the truth of Jesus Christ!
Camp Leaders Meal
Great to meet up with the Good News Camp team from 2025, plus a few newcomers who are planning to help in 2026.
Team meal a chance to share memories, enjoy some good food (Thanks to our Camp Cooks, Maureen & Lou), pray together and focus our thoughts towards the summer.
THOUGHTS ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF CHRISTIAN CAMPS:
Salvation: Helping young people understand the Christian faith and giving them the opportunity to respond to the claims of Christ.
Spiritual Acceleration & Ignition: “What happened in a week at camp would have taken a year of going to Bible study every Wednesday night… Camp sparks them to have questions or to want to learn more”.
Immersive Environment: Camp provides a “sanctuary where spiritual seeds are planted and watered,” away from “the distractions of life”.
Authentic Community: Camp offers a “supportive community of peers and mentors” and a place to experience “God’s love and power” alongside friends.
Faith Formation: It’s a place to “discover spiritual renewal,” “grow up in your salvation,” and learn to “surrender,” fostering deeper understanding and commitment.
Character & Resilience: Outdoor challenges build “resilience, grit, and growth,” forming “character the world needs more of”.
Nature as a Teacher: Experiencing God’s creation helps campers see His “eternal power and divine nature,” feeling “closer to God than ever before”.

For Gordon as he prepares & shares talks from Luke’s gospel.
For Moose, Naomi & Penny the Leadership Team.
For a good time spiritually – that the week will be marked with conversions and spiritual growth.

‘BodyBuilders’ Houseparty 2024
‘BodyBuilders’ Houseparty 2024 starts tonight at 7.30pm.
We will be squeezed, squashed, stuffed, scrunched, packed, compressed and jammed into various rooms at our Church venue.
We are planning to invade The Llittledown Centre – in the swimming pool can anyone beat The Moose on the Crusher Assault Course?
In Swanage it’s sunshine and ice-cream, drooling at the very thought of it!
A night-time hike over Hengistbury Head Nature Reserve.
And to top it all off our last activity of the weekend a visit to Avon Heath Country Park!
I am shattered just looking at the programme for the bank holiday weekend!
Then throw in a great team of helpers, a little bit of chill time, some Bible teaching from yours truly and some indoor games activities, and of course plenty of good food, food that can only be described as “beyond delicious.”
Me thinks it all adds up to one unforgettable weekend!
Evangelism @ Speakers Corner
Evangelism @ Speakers Corner. Hyde Park. London.
“Though argument does not create conviction, the lack of it destroys belief.”
― Alister E. McGrath, (If I Had Lunch with C.S. Lewis: Exploring the Ideas of C.S. Lewis on the Meaning of Life)
Speakers Corner in London’s Hyde Park is the oldest free speech platform in the world. People won the right to speak in mass protests in the 1860s and early 1870s. Some people believe the tradition is connected to the right of the condemned to a last speech before being hung at the Tyburn gallows, a practice that stopped at the end of the 18th century. Every Sunday people from all sorts of convictions come to Hyde Park in the afternoon to spead their message or to have fun.
