Today @ Speakers Corner
Speakers Corner can at times be predictable, same old faces (many regulars among the many visitors who visit or pass through the park), same old arguments (how many times must we keep answering the same questions), same old interactions (arguments, debates & quality conversations).
Todays highlight was a chat with Attila, from Turkey. Raised a Moslem but now an atheist, a very useful time chatting away and he left with a John’s gospel to read.

Speakers Corner in London’s Hyde Park is the oldest free speech platform in the world. People won the right to speak in mass protests in the 1860s and early 1870s. Some people believe the tradition is connected to the right of the condemned to a last speech before being hung at the Tyburn gallows, a practice that stopped at the end of the 18th century. Every Sunday people from all sorts of convictions come to Hyde Park in the afternoon to spread their message or to have fun.

The Net BBQ in the woods
The final ‘NET’ event in this series of men’s outreach events and it did not disappoint! A good mixture of ages, some very good food and a beautiful spring evening were the ‘aperitifs’, the ‘main course’ was guest speaker Shaun Sweeney who as darkness descended shared the good news of the gospel.
Great see Christian men inviting their non-Christian family members and friends along.
The Parable of the Growing Seed (Mark 4:26-29).
Jesus said, “This is what the kingdom of God is like. A man scatters seed on the ground. Night and day, whether he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts and grows, though he does not know how. All by itself the soil produces grain—first the stalk, then the head, then the full kernel in the head. As soon as the grain is ripe, he puts the sickle to it, because the harvest has come.”
