Evangelism @ Speakers Corner. Hyde Park. London.
Within two minutes of arriving, I witnessed one Christian preacher being pushed by an angry Muslim, then sixty seconds later the angry Muslim was punching another Muslim man, then on the hour he got the hat trick by punching yet another Muslim! By the time the police got out of their minibus (on punch #3), he had long gone!
Plenty of people around but not a lot of useful conversations, the best being my colleague Mark spent a long time chatting to a Moslem doctor from Saudi Arabia and I had a long chat with Constantine a Moldovan Seventh-day Adventist (see photo), a very genuine guy but his theology was all over the place. Trusting that things shared with these two men will bear fruit!

Speakers Corner in London’s Hyde Park is the oldest free speech platform in the world. People won the right to speak in mass protests in the 1860s and early 1870s. Some people believe the tradition is connected to the right of the condemned to a last speech before being hung at the Tyburn gallows, a practice that stopped at the end of the 18th century. Every Sunday people from all sorts of convictions come to Hyde Park in the afternoon to spread their message or to have fun.

A great evening at Paulsgrove Baptist Church. Portsmouth, made better by the fact I didn’t have to organise it! Chinese food, ice cream for afters and a short quiz followed by a short talk from me.
Pray for those who took books and booklets from the literature table. Thanks to Rob Milikin and his team.

It was also good to catch up with some friends from the past, those we know from our long association with the Church and what were the young people who came along to our youth events and Camps, now in their mid-twenties and growing in their faith.

Looking forward to some good Chinese food and the opportunity to share the gospel at a Men’s Event organised by Paulsgrove Baptist Church. Portsmouth.

After a three-week break (2 in Moldova on Mission and 1 on the couch with a heavy cold), it was good to be back at the Corner. Winter Wonderland is up & running in the park and brings a constant stream of people flowing through, some stop to chat most head for the attractions.
In the park today were some Moslem ‘big hitters’ (Hamza & John Fontain), but these stars of Daʿwah YouTube refused to debate with any Christian ‘big hitters!’ Their logic seems to be, when your arguments don’t add up, no need to defend them just refuse to debate them!
Use mix of conversations and arguments, the highlight of the day was a long conversation with a Moslem man called, Abbas, lots of topics covered and we are hoping to carry on the conversation next week. Please pray for him.
