Today @ Speakers Corner
When I arrived a ‘Let Women Speak’ event was dominating the corner with black balloons and a large group of women in niqabs (veil for the face), only these niqabs contained the message, ‘free your face.’ The unveiling was led by the fearless British campaigner Kellie-Jay Kee (aka Poise Parker) who in full voice led a very dramatic protest.
The park was roasting, all the regulars were hunting out shade under the tress and as we charred we watched a mass of people constantly flow past us heading for the BST concert area & stage nearby.
The usual mixture of conversations, but most of my time (3 hours) was spent in one long conversation talking to one Moslem man called, Husayn.
Pray for him, he was blinded by the usual Dawah script (in Islam, Dawah is evangelism), he said he would go away and look again at his many badly researched arguments (my summary not his – lol).

Speakers Corner in London’s Hyde Park is the oldest free speech platform in the world. People won the right to speak in mass protests in the 1860s and early 1870s. Some people believe the tradition is connected to the right of the condemned to a last speech before being hung at the Tyburn gallows, a practice that stopped at the end of the 18th century. Every Sunday people from all sorts of convictions come to Hyde Park in the afternoon to spread their message or to have fun.
PBC Youth Weekend
Great weekend at CYE with the youth of Paulsgrove Baptist Church. Portsmouth.
A full programme of events included kayaking, dingy sailing, tunneling & tag-archery.
A very friendly bunch of young people who listened so well to the four talks I gave over the weekend.
The venue is stunning and the CYE staff were helpful and professional (if you need a venue, check them out).
The weekend was led by Rob Milliken and his team, we enjoyed lots of laughs and we go home with a few more stories and anecdotes to add to our collection of memories.
Great when I returned home to hear news that one of the young people had returned home and ytold his parents that he had trusted Christ for salvation!
CYE with Paulsgrove Baptist Church Youth
This weekend will mainly be spent on the water! At the CYE (Christian Youth Enterprises), Chidham. Chichester.
For me it will be kayaking over sailing in Chichester Harbour and the odd ramble to take in the stunning scenery, tranquillity and wildlife of the area.
This weekend Rob Milliken & his team are organising everything and my input for the weekend will be 4 teaching sessions.
Friday 9.00pm
Saturday 8.45am
Saturday 9.00pm
Sunday 8.45am
All over for me Sunday at mid-day but the group will carry on a few hours longer.
Sermon Centrals Weekly Report
Having just uploaded my 831st sermon to this site, I am always encouraged by their Weekly Report and always enjoy the comments from Christians who request the PowerPoints to go with the talks. Instead of being ‘dead’ on a hard drive once the text goes online they are ‘alive’ to anyone who is looking for help in their preparation or just needs an illustration or two or a sermon outline.
