So good today to see so many people talking and debating at the Corner.
Some great conversations including a 2-hour chat with a Moslem man called Abdulah. He tried to persuade me regarding Islam, and I tried to persuade him regarding Christianity, humanly speaking we both failed in our tasks, but whereas Abdulah only has words, we as Christians have the Holy Spirit who can continue to work on Abdulah’s heart long after I have finished talking with him!

I remember reading one of Watchman Nee’s books, and the insight that stuck with me was, that the Holy Spirit’s initial work in restoring a fallen or dead person mirrors the Spirit “moving upon the face of the waters” in the original creation.

The Analogy to Genesis and Creation

•Helplessness of Ruin: Just as the earth in Genesis became formless, dark, and void, fallen humanity is dead, dark, and incapable of lifting itself up or generating its own spiritual revival.
•The Spirit’s Movement: The first step of divine recovery requires the Holy Spirit to actively move over the darkness and human deadness, exactly as He did at the dawn of creation.
•Light and Rebirth: God’s command of “Let there be light!” and the Spirit’s subsequent dividing of light from darkness typifies spiritual rebirth, where divine light penetrates the darkened human soul and exposes the flesh.
